I remember it like it was yesterday. That morning I just couldn't get up anymore. I was feeling heavy and overwhelmed. My body felt paralysed and was unable to do even in the simplest of tasks.
I just lied in bed for days, sleeping or crying for no reason. Crying was actually the only thing that felt good but in the same time it was like pulling me into a downward spiral.
This is how my burnout climax looked and felt like. But that was not the scariest part! Not knowing what was "wrong" with me, was it. Neither did the doctors that examined me, nor my family.
Only many many years after this episode, I learned about burnout and identified my symptoms. Reflecting on what happened back then, I could identify the patterns in my life and understood how I kept repeating the same ambitious behaviour, that would eventually lead me to this dead end called "burnout". Fortunately, these realisations came just in time to support a radical life change in my lifestyle and mindset.
